Care Fees | The Truth

Many ordinary people are being ripped off by the local Will writing firms promising to protect your family home in case of you or your parents needing to go into a care home. They usually use quotes like…

‘avoid care fees’
‘legally avoid paying care home fees’
‘stop the council seizing your home to pay nursing home fees’

Many are charging up to £9500 (Crawley couple) for this type of scheme. I have warned Crawley and Horsham District Councils about the matter but they are powerless to help, all they can do is issue a warning – fact is they are unlikely to do so because of the delicate nature of the subject.

I found out about two of these scams at an informal workshop a few weeks back., where I made a short presentation about Care Fees, and the 2014 Care Act. It’s implications and what we all need to do.

I was pretty shocked at how little was understood about the changes.

With that in mind I have decided to run a number of “pop up” meetings in Crawley and Horsham over the coming couple of weeks.
